Starlight Express
Joyce Ramsey, tenor (right), has sung in public since she was three years old. Her
experience includes membership in church choirs and in choral societies in
Key West, FL; Greenville, SC; Charlotte, NC and in Asheville. She fell in
love with barbershop music through her husband, Bob Burns, who sings lead
with the Asheville men's barbershop chorus, Land of the Sky. Joyce is employed by Trane Comfort
Solutions of Asheville.
Jane Briggs, lead
(second from right), has always enjoyed singing. In fact, that
love kept her at the piano. She would not need to find an
accompanist. She is the pianist and music leader at Calvary
Baptists Church in Mars Hill. She and her husband, Bill, have
two children, Lydia and William.
Sharon LeDuc, bass (second from left), has been a Sweet Adeline for 15 years; 13 years in Carolina
Harmony Chorus, Raleigh and 7 years in Song O' Sky. She also sings in the
choir at Central United Methodist Church. Sharon has her PhD in
statistics and is Deputy Director of the National Climatic Data Center.
She and her husband, Dick, have three sons, Brian, Philip and Russell.
Maxine Ramsey, baritone
(left), has been a member of Song O' Sky Chorus for 20 years,
serving on the board, in various committees, and as baritone section
leader. She is active at California Creek Baptist Church as
organist and also as a member of the church quartet. It has
been said of Maxine that she has music running in her veins.
Maxine and her husband, Harry reside in Mars Hill and have one
daughter, Melanie.
